Hey everyone, it’s Tina.
I know, I know. I’ve been a bit of a ghost lately. Not the spooky, haunting-your-attic kind of ghost, more like the “I went into the kitchen to get a glass of water and ended up reorganizing my spice rack for three hours and forgot the outside world exists” kind of ghost.
If there was an Olympic sport for vanishing into thin air while being perfectly safe on my sofa, I’d be taking home the gold.
The Reality of a Drained Social Battery
I saw this phrase the other day:
“Outta sight, still on plenty minds!”
And it hit me right in the soul. It’s basically my unofficial life motto at this point.
Have you ever had those weeks where you’re just… not there? You’re breathing, you’re eating (mostly toast, let’s be real), and you’re technically “functioning,” but your social battery is so drained it’s actually started to beep like a dying smoke detector?
That’s been me. I haven’t been ignoring your texts—well, okay, I have, but not because I don’t love you! I just see the notification, think of a really witty reply in my head, convince myself I already sent it, and then realize three days later that I left you on “read” while I was distracted by a video of a raccoon eating grapes.
When Vanishing Becomes a Talent
It’s a talent, really. I’m physically out of sight, tucked away in my little bubble of chaos, yet I know I’m still popping up in your thoughts.
Usually accompanied by a “Is Tina still alive?” or “Did she finally run away to join a traveling circus?”
The Liberating Joy of Stepping Away From the ‘Gram
We live in a world where if you aren’t posting a photo of your latte every four hours, people assume you’ve been abducted. But there is something so incredibly liberating about being “outta sight.”
When I’m not performing for the ‘Gram or trying to maintain my status as a functioning member of society, I get to do the important stuff.
My “Outta Sight” To-Do List
- Perfecting my “surprised face” for when I inevitably run into someone at the grocery store while wearing pajamas.
- Thinking about working out. (The thought counts, right?)
- Wondering if my plants are actually judging me for how often I talk to them.
Even though I’ve been MIA, I’ve been thinking about all of you. It’s funny how distance makes you realize who really sticks in your brain. You don’t need to see someone every day to have them occupy a huge chunk of your mental real estate.
Shaking the Pressure of Constant Presence
If you’re reading this and you’re one of the people who checked in, sent a meme, or even just thought, “Man, I wonder what kind of trouble Tina is getting into now,”—thank you.
Being “on your mind” while being “outta sight” is the ultimate compliment. It means the connection is real. It’s not based on me being loud or present all the time; it’s based on the fact that once you’ve met me, I’m pretty hard to shake (like a glitter spill or a catchy 90s pop song).
Tip: If you haven’t heard from me in a while, just know I’m probably in the middle of a very intense internal debate about whether I should order Thai food for the third time this week.
A Official “Proof of Life” Update
So, consider this my “Proof of Life” post. I’m still here, I’m still me, and I’m still figuring it all out one awkward interaction at a time. I might not be in your line of vision right now, but I’m definitely still in the mix.
I promise to emerge from my cave soon. Probably when I run out of coffee or the neighbors start getting suspicious.
Until then, stay weird, keep me on your mind, and try not to have too much fun without me. Stay tuned for my next update, which will likely involve a story about how I accidentally joined a book club I didn’t intend to.
