But I’m Busy (and Tired)

Okay, y’all. We need to have a little “come to Jesus” meeting today.

I was scrolling through my phone this morning—trying to wake up before the chaos of the house fully erupted—and I saw a post that made me nearly spit out my Philz. It said: “Some of y’all wake up miserable on purpose.”

And I felt that in my soul.

You know exactly the kind of energy I’m talking about. We all know those people. The ones who treat gossip like it’s a paid internship. The ones who wake up, stretch, look at the beautiful sun shining through the window, and decide, “Nah, I think I’m gonna choose violence today.”

Look, I’m 33. I am officially at the age where my “drama tolerance” budget is $0.00. Actually, it’s in the negative. I’m overdrawn.

Between working as a nurse (where I spend 12 hours dealing with actual life-and-death situations), being a wife, and raising kids, my brain is at capacity. I am scheduling doctor appointments, trying to remember if I switched the laundry over, and mentally calculating how many hours of sleep I can get if I go to bed right now.

I do not have the bandwidth to care that “So-and-So” said this about “Whatchamacallit” at the barbecue three weeks ago.

The meme I saw talked about people “tearing others down like it’s a full-time job.” And it’s true! Some people really clock in at 9:00 AM to the Factory of Foolishness and don’t clock out until they’ve ruined someone’s day. It’s exhausting just watching them!

Here is my theory: Happy people ain’t hating, and hating people ain’t happy.

If you are truly busy building your life—getting your money right, loving on your family, trying to drink your water and mind your business—you literally do not have the time to pray on someone else’s downfall. You’re too busy praying for your own blessings! Or at least praying for a parking spot at the grocery store.

Being a Leo, I’m naturally loyal. I ride for my people. But that Leo energy also means I have zero problem cutting a cord if the vibe is off. I don’t do fake, and I definitely don’t do “manufactured chaos.” Life brings enough chaos on its own without you needing to stir the pot just because you’re bored.

If you are bored, go read a book. Go take a walk. Go reorganize your Tupperware drawer (you know you can’t find the matching lids anyway). Do something productive.

Because here’s the reality: There is a whole life out there. There is peace to be had. There is joy to be found. But you are never going to find it if you’re constantly looking sideways at what everyone else is doing, or looking down to dig dirt on them.

So, to the misery-makers: Please heal. Whatever hurt you, whatever made you feel like you need to drag people down to feel tall—let it go. Go get close to God, go get some therapy, go get a hobby that doesn’t involve screenshots and group chats.

And to the rest of us just trying to survive the week: Protect your peace. Guard it with your life. If someone brings that messy energy to your doorstep, turn the porch light off. Pretend you aren’t home.

We are choosing peace, purpose, and iced coffee over pettiness in 2026.

Stay blessed (and unbothered),

Tina
