Hey everyone, it’s Tina. Pull up a chair, grab a snack, and let’s have a real-life talk.
You know that feeling when you think you’ve finally found a normal, well-adjusted human being? Someone who doesn’t track their ex’s Spotify listening habits or think that “manifesting” replaces actually paying rent? Yeah, me too. And then—usually around Tuesday at 2:00 PM—they do something so unhinged, so wildly “out left field,” that you just have to blink slowly.
When the Shock Meter Officially Breaks
The image I shared today hit me right in the soul: “That weird shit don’t surprise me nomore, I just be like damn you one of them too. 😂”
Honestly? That is the official slogan of my late twenties/early thirties. It’s the stage of life where your “shock meter” is officially broken.
Back in the day, I used to be an investigator. If someone did something weird, I wanted to know why. I’d call my girls, we’d hold a three-hour forensic analysis of a single text message, and I’d be genuinely distressed that another person had let me down.
Mastering the “Tina Blink”
Now? Now I have the Tina Blink. It’s that half-second where my brain registers the “weird shit,” processes that it’s completely nonsensical, and then promptly files it under “Not My Circus, Not My Monkeys.”
I’ve realized that the world is just one giant “One of Them” convention. We’re all just waiting for the mask to slip. You see a coworker who seems totally put together? Give it three months. They’ll eventually tell you why they only eat foods that are the color orange, or how they’re currently in a legal battle with their HOA over a plastic flamingo.
And instead of being horrified, I just find myself nodding and thinking, “Welp. Add ‘em to the list. You’re one of them too.”
The Superpower of Not Being Surprised
If I didn’t laugh at the sheer absurdity of people, I’d probably be living in a cabin in the woods with no Wi-Fi (which, let’s be honest, sounds better every day).
There’s a certain freedom in reaching the “I’m not surprised” phase. It’s like a superpower.
Spotting the Absurdity in the Wild
- Dating? When he mentions his “mother-slash-business-manager” on the first date, I don’t get mad. I just order an extra appetizer because I know the story is going to be worth the price of the calamari.
- Friendships? When a friend “cleanses” the room with sage because they didn’t like the “vibe” of my toaster, I just move the bread.
- The Internet? Don’t even get me started. Every time I open an app, I’m three scrolls away from seeing someone explain why they’re “married” to a 2D character or how they’ve discovered that birds aren’t real.
The Ultimate Plot Twist: I’m “One of Them” Too
Here’s the plot twist, though. (And don’t tell anyone I said this).
Deep down, I know I’m probably “one of them” to somebody else. Somewhere out there, there’s a person writing a blog post about the “weird girl Tina” who talks to her plants and has a very specific, borderline aggressive system for organizing her fridge.
But hey, at least I’m self-aware!
Embracing the Humor in the Crazy
Life is too short to be stressed out by everyone else’s brand of crazy. Once you stop expecting people to be “normal” (whatever that means), life gets a lot funnier. You start collecting these stories like trading cards.
So, the next time someone shows you their true, weird-as-hell colors, don’t let it ruin your day. Don’t let it raise your blood pressure. Just take a deep breath, give ’em the slow blink, and say to yourself:
“Damn. You one of them too.” 😂
What’s the “weirdest shit” you’ve witnessed lately that made you realize you’re officially unshockable? Drop your stories in the comments—I need a good laugh today!

We are all weird! Why? Because we are all different and in our society, we look at different as weird! So I’m happy to call myself “WEIRD!”
So fabulous…and true. Every word! Life to me now is character building. Not building my character but picking up lots of little clues for my story/script book.
Thank you for a great piece!
Lady, you’ve been on a roll lately and I’ve been enjoying the heck out of it! lol
You crack me up! I love your honesty, the authenticity that doesn’t seem to care what other people think. You are an old soul–with more wisdom than people twice your age.
Insightful and hilarious 🙂
