The Art of Knowing

Let’s be real for a second. If there was a degree in “Observation,” I’d have a PhD, tenure, and a reserved parking spot right in front of the building.

I saw a quote today that hit my soul so hard I almost dropped my phone on my face (again). It said: “I peep everything .. we can play dumb tho.”

And honestly? That should be on my tombstone. Or at least my bio.

We live in a world where people think they are slick. Like, really slick. They move in silence—or so they think—assuming that because we didn’t react, we didn’t notice. But here’s the thing about me: I am a vault of information. I am the FBI, the CIA, and TMZ all rolled into one, minus the paycheck. I see the side-eyes. I hear the tone shift in your voice when you’re “fine.” I catch the inconsistencies in the story you told me Tuesday versus the remix you dropped on Friday.

I peep everything.

But here is where the magic happens: I don’t say a word.

Why? Because playing dumb is a strategic power move. It’s an extreme sport, and I am training for the Olympics.

There is something so satisfying about letting someone lie to your face when you already know the truth. I’m just sitting there, nodding, giving them the “wow, really?” face, meanwhile, in my head, I’m pulling up the receipts, the timestamps, and the screenshots. It’s not about being fake; it’s about conserving energy. Do I really want to argue with you? No. Do I want to see how far you’ll take this charade? Absolutely. Pass the popcorn.

It’s honestly a test of character. I give people enough rope to either pull themselves up or trip over their own feet. Most of the time, they trip. And I’m just standing there like, “Oh no! Watch out!” knowing full well the floor was slippery because they spilled the tea there three days ago.

We accept the apologies we know are half-hearted. We smile at the “friends” who act shady. We let the coworkers take credit for things they didn’t do. Not because we are weak, but because we are calculating. We are protecting our peace. If I called out every single thing I peeped, I would never sleep. I would be exhausted. My voice would be gone.

Sometimes, you have to let people think they got one over on you. Let them think they’re the smartest person in the room. Because the moment they think you’re oblivious is the moment they get sloppy. That’s when the real show begins.

So, to everyone thinking they’re moving under the radar: I see you. I saw that deleted comment. I noticed you didn’t invite me to that thing. I heard what you said when you thought I wasn’t listening.

I’m not gonna say anything, though. I’m gonna sip my water, mind my business, and let you think you’re slick. We can play dumb. I’m great at roleplay. But just know, the scorecard in my head? It’s tallying up.

Stay sharp, friends. And remember: silence isn’t blindness. It’s just the calm before the “I told you so.”
