Hey everyone, Tina here. Pull up a chair—or a floor cushion, if that’s your vibe—because we need to talk about that “energy shift.”
You know the quote I’m talking about. It’s been floating around my feed like a persistent ghost: “Everybody is a girls girl until a woman walks in with quiet confidence, a pure heart, and no need for a crowd. That’s when the energy shifts.”
I read that and I immediately thought: Wow, that sounds so elegant. So serene. So… not me at 7:00 AM when I’m trying to find a matching sock. But the more I chewed on it, the more it hit home. We’ve all been there, haven’t we? We’re all supportive, “you go girl,” “yas queen” besties until someone enters the room who doesn’t seem to be playing the same game we are.
Understanding the Power of Quiet Confidence
When I think of “quiet confidence,” I don’t think of someone shouting from the rooftops about their achievements. I think of that one woman at the party who is perfectly happy standing by the snack table—alone—eating a singular grape and looking like she’s having the most profound internal monologue of her life.
She doesn’t need to be the loudest. She doesn’t need to lead the “who has the worst dating life” competition. She just… is. And honestly? It’s intimidating as heck.
Why True Confidence is Magnetic
My version of “quiet confidence” usually involves me being quiet because I’ve forgotten someone’s name and I’m hoping if I stay still enough, they’ll just call me “hey you” and we can move on with our lives. But that’s the thing—true confidence is magnetic. It’s the energy of someone who has nothing to prove and nowhere else they’d rather be.
Why the “Energy Shifts” in a Room
We like to think of ourselves as the ultimate allies. We’re in the group chat, we’re sending the heart emojis, we’re “supporting women.” But let’s be real—sometimes, when someone walks in who is truly comfortable in their own skin, our own insecurities start doing jumping jacks.
Facing Our Internal Insecurities
Suddenly, the “energy shifts.” The room gets a little colder, the whispers get a little sharper, and we start wondering: Wait, why isn’t she trying to impress us? Is she better than us? Is my outfit actually a disaster? It’s a human reaction. We’re wired to compare. But I’ve realized that the “shift” doesn’t have to be a bad thing. It can be a wake-up call. When I see a woman who doesn’t need a crowd, it makes me look at my own “crowd” and ask: Am I here because I want to be, or because I’m afraid of being alone with my own thoughts?
Redefining What It Means to Have a “Pure Heart”
And don’t even get me started on the “pure heart” part. I try, I really do. I recycle. I tip 20%. I don’t spoil TV shows. But then someone cuts me off in traffic and my “pure heart” suddenly sounds like a sailor who just stubbed their toe on a Lego.
Having a pure heart isn’t about being a saint; I think it’s about intent. It’s about being the person who genuinely wants others to win, even if you’re currently losing. It’s about walking into a room and thinking “I wonder what I can give” instead of “I wonder what I can get.”
How to Embrace Your Own Quiet Confidence
The next time you’re in a room and that energy shifts—when that woman walks in who seems to have it all together without even trying—don’t shrink back. Don’t start the internal critique.
Instead, maybe just go over and ask what kind of grape she’s eating.
Because the truth is, we’ve all got that “quiet confidence” woman inside of us. She’s just buried under layers of “I need to please everyone” and “is there spinach in my teeth?”
Shifting the Energy for the Right Reasons
Let’s try to be the woman who shifts the energy for the right reasons. Not by being perfect, but by being so incredibly okay with being ourselves that everyone else feels like they can breathe a little easier too.
What do you think? Have you ever felt that “energy shift” in a room? Tell me your stories in the comments—I promise I’ll keep the “pure heart” vibes going while I read them!

So good. Loved the part about women giving permission for others to relax in their presence. I have experienced all of this and share so many similar thoughts. Thank you for your honesty. So refreshing and exciting.
