Hey besties, it’s Tina. Grab a glass of wine—or a gallon, honestly—because we need to have a serious sister-to-sister chat about a very specific brand of suffering.
I was scrolling through my feelings today (as one does) and I realized something terrifying. I hate—and I mean I absolutely loathe—when a man’s “assets” are so good that they actually make the drama feel like a fair trade. I swear to God, it’s a design flaw in the universe. Why is it that the men who cause the most chest pain also happen to be the ones who… well, let’s just say they know exactly what they’re doing when the lights go out?
The 2:00 AM Dilemma
We’ve all been there. You’re standing in your kitchen at 2:00 AM, staring at a “U up?” text from a man who has the emotional depth of a teaspoon and hasn’t replied to your actual conversation in three days. Your brain is screaming, “Tina, delete the number! Block him! Move to a different state!” But then your memory kicks in. You remember that one night. And suddenly, your brain starts doing this twisted toxic math.
Calculating the Trade-Offs
- The Problem: He forgets your birthday, he’s “bad at texting,” and his “crazy ex” is actually just a girl he gaslit into a breakdown.
- The Solution: He’s a 10/10 in the bedroom and has that one specific smirk that makes you forget your own middle name.
The Cosmic Law of Bad Behavior
Suddenly, the math starts to look like: Maybe I don’t NEED a text back? Maybe “consistency” is just a social construct?
I am convinced there is a cosmic law that dictates the worse a man is at being a human being, the better he is at the physical stuff. It’s like the universe had to balance him out so he wouldn’t just be a total waste of space.
I’ll spend all week telling my girls, “I’m done. He’s disrespectful, he’s flaky, and he told me my favorite show was ‘mid.’ I am a goddess. I am empowered.” Then he sends one voice note with that raspy “just woke up” voice, and I’m folding like a cheap lawn chair. I STG, it is a sickness!
The “Designer Bag” Metaphor of Dating
That’s the real struggle, isn’t it? When the “worth it” scale is tipped so heavily by the physical connection that you’re willing to endure the 95% of the time that he’s a walking migraine. It’s like buying a gorgeous designer bag but the strap is made of actual barbed wire. You look great for the three hours you’re out, but you’re bleeding the rest of the time.
We laugh about it because if we didn’t, we’d be crying into our expensive silk pillowcases. But deep down, we know the truth: no amount of “good” in the sheets is worth the “bad” in your peace of mind.
A Sisterhood of Traveling Bad Decisions
To all my girls trapped in the “but he’s so good at it” cycle: I see you. We are a sisterhood of the traveling bad decisions.
Next time you’re about to fold, just remember: a good night’s sleep and a peaceful heart are also “worth it.” But hey, if you do end up answering that late-night text… just make sure you keep your heart locked in a safe and your standards on standby.
Stay strong (or don’t, I’m not the boss of your Saturday night),
— Tina
