What gives you direction in life?
Hi everyone!
This is Tina, back again with a story from my own journey in life. Today, I want to address a question that has intrigued me for long, “What gives direction to my life?”
There are always certain forces in our lives that act as guiding stars, leading us through the turbulent storms and helping us find our way. It’s that little voice inside us, that feeling in our gut, or that sense of purpose, propelling us forward amidst the chaos. As for myself, I’ve found that my sense of direction stems from three significant sources: my curiosity, my passion for helping others, and my love for growth.
Firstly, my curiosity has always been my compass. As a child, I was always the one with a myriad of questions about absolutely everything. How does the rainbow form? Why do birds fly south for winter? This insatiable thirst for knowledge and understanding has shaped my path and provided me a sense of direction. It has steered my decision-making throughout life and led me to explore new territories. Both personally and professionally, my curiosity has always moved me on an exciting and progressive journey of exploration.
Secondly, nothing brings more fulfillment than serving others. It sounds cliché, but it’s profoundly true for me. The joy of helping others and seeing the positive impact I can make has proven to be a potent motivator and guiding principle. In this, I’ve found more than a sense of direction. I’ve found a purpose—a reason to wake up every morning and give my all. It’s an integral part of my identity.
Lastly, my love for growth, both personal and professional, has also provided direction to my life. My constant desire to learn, evolve, and improve has always been a guiding light. It has pushed me into unfamiliar zones, stretched my limits, and, most importantly, has led to self-discovery. Each challenge I’ve faced has been an opportunity for growth, shaping the person I am today.
These aspects don’t discount the value of setting specific life and career goals. They play a critical role in my life. However, the broader sense of direction—knowing who I am, what I value, and what I want to contribute—provides a foundational compass that keeps me moving forward, even when specific goals need to be adjusted.
So what gives direction to my life? It’s a combination of my curiosity, my love of helping others, and my desire for personal and professional growth. These guideposts inevitably shape my path, giving me a sense of direction and so much more—a sense of fulfillment, purpose, and joy.
Remember, only you hold the compass to your life. So explore, chase your passions, and never stop growing! Until next time, this is Tina, signing off.
Until next time,
Tina.
