Do you need a break? From what?
Hello there, beautiful souls!
This is Tina, your friendly neighborhood storyteller, here to share some relatable stories from my journey. Today, let’s explore a topic that has become quite a buzzword – taking a break. And more importantly, from what?
I know, we all have our moments when we look at our lives and say, “I need a break!” But do we ever stop to ponder, a break from what exactly? Is it work, family, social obligations, or perhaps from our own selves?
Let’s start with a story from my own experience. I remember a time when I was juggling a full-time job, maintaining a social life, and trying to keep up with my never-ending list of personal obligations. I was burnt out, stressed, and felt like I was stuck in an endless loop. It took a toll on my mental and physical health. Finally, I decided, it was time to take a break. But from what?
Firstly, I considered taking a break from work. But then I realized that my job wasn’t the actual problem. I loved what I did and the sense of accomplishment that came with it. So was it my social life? I pondered. But no, I cherished my friends and the joy they brought into my life.
It was then that I realized, I needed a break from my own expectations and the pressure I was putting on myself. I was trying to be everything to everyone, and in the process, I was forgetting to be something for myself. I decided my break would be a time to focus on self-love, self-care, and most importantly, self-acceptance.
Fast forward to now, I am much happier, healthier, and content. I still work hard, enjoy my social life, but I also remember to take care of myself.
This story is not unique to me. Chances are, many of you are or have been in a similar situation. You might be thinking of taking a break, but you’re not sure from what. If that’s the case, I urge you to pause and reflect.
Ask yourself, is it your work that’s draining you, or is it the unrealistic expectations you’ve set for yourself? Is it your social life that’s suffocating you, or is it the fear of missing out that’s making you stretch beyond your limits?
Remember, it’s okay to step back, reassess, and take a break. Whether it’s a break from work, from social obligations, or from your own high standards and expectations, what’s important is that you understand what you need a break from.
In the end, breaks are not about escaping from something, but towards something – your peace, your health, and your happiness. Remember, you’re human, and it’s okay to give yourself some time to relax, rejuvenate, and return stronger.
Until next time, take care of yourselves, my friends. And remember, it’s okay to take a break!
Yours,
Tina.
