Something on your “to-do list” that never gets done.
Hello there, lovely readers! It’s Tina again, bringing you another amusing tale from my messy, quirky, and genuinely entertaining life. Today, I’m going to let you in on a little secret – there’s something that’s been lurking on my to-do list for what feels like an age. It’s that one task that, despite my best intentions, never seems to get done.
Are you familiar with this scenario? You have a to-do list, maybe it’s in a notebook, on your phone, or if you’re particularly organized, on a whiteboard. You dutifully tick off tasks as they’re completed, a small sense of satisfaction with each checkmark. But then… there’s that one task. The one that’s been there so long it’s practically part of the furniture. The one that you keep pushing to the bottom of the list, promising yourself you’ll get it done… eventually.
For me, that task is cleaning out my garage.
There, I said it. My garage is a mess. It’s become a cavernous storage unit for anything and everything that doesn’t have a designated place in the house. Old furniture, holiday decorations, gym equipment from that fitness phase I went through a few years ago, and boxes. So many boxes, some of them still sealed from when we moved in… 7 years ago!
Every weekend, I wake up with the best of intentions. Today is the day, I tell myself. Today is the day I am going to conquer the garage. I’ll start with a hearty breakfast, put on my most durable jeans, and gear up with the determination of a warrior going into battle. But then, something always seems to come up. An impromptu brunch with friends, a beautiful day that’s too good to waste indoors, a new book that I just can’t put down, or simply the daunting size of the task at hand.
It’s reached a point where I laugh at myself every time I write “Clean out the garage” on my to-do list. It’s become an ongoing joke in our household, a testament to my amazing procrastination skills.
But you know what? It’s okay. Life is full of unopened boxes and messy garages. What matters is that we’re living, laughing, and enjoying the moments in between. And who knows? Maybe one day, I’ll surprise myself and finally tick that task off my list. But until then, it’ll remain a reminder that not everything has to be perfect and that it’s okay to have that one thing that never gets done.
Remember, we’re all human, and life isn’t about ticking off every box. It’s about appreciating the journey, even if that journey includes a cluttered garage.
Until next time,
Tina
